Strattera is an atypical antipsychotic medication that has gained recognition as a potential treatment for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). However, its mechanism of action is still not fully understood. Here we describe a case of a patient who developed an atypical hyperactivity and impulsivity syndrome (ADHS) during an initial consultation with a psychiatrist. The patient was an 80-year-old female with a history of ADHD, dysarthria, and irritability. Her current medications and medical history were unremarkable. She presented to a psychiatric hospital with symptoms of hypomania, anxiety, irritability, and impulsivity. Her psychiatrist diagnosed her with ADHD, and she was prescribed Strattera for the treatment of this condition. She presented to the hospital with signs of impulsivity and agitation. She was started on a single dose of Strattera, and the patient was diagnosed with ADHD and was started on the 5 mg daily dose. However, she remained on the 7.25 mg daily dose and was on the 10 mg daily dose for the remainder of the treatment. Strattera treatment was stopped due to the symptoms of ADHD, and the patient was discharged home from the hospital. After further consideration of the patient, a psychiatrist prescribed Strattera for the treatment of the patient's hyperactivity and impulsivity syndrome. The patient remained on the medication for the remainder of the course of treatment, and the psychiatrist prescribed the 10 mg daily dose for the treatment of the patient's symptoms. The psychiatrist prescribed Strattera for the patient's hyperactivity and impulsivity syndrome. The patient was observed in this setting for the next 6 months, and the patient's symptoms were stabilized. The patient was started on a lower dose of Strattera (10 mg daily) and was on the 10 mg daily dose. The patient's symptoms continued to improve, and she remained symptom free. In terms of the patient's impulsivity and hyperactivity and impulsivity symptoms, her current medications were well tolerated and the dose of Strattera was reduced to 10 mg daily. The psychiatrist also recommended the use of antidepressants, as the patient's symptoms of ADHD were worsening and she was experiencing the symptoms of depression and anxiety. The psychiatrist decided to use Strattera for the treatment of her patient's symptoms, and she was prescribed the 10 mg daily dose of the medication. The psychiatrist advised the patient's dose of Strattera to be lowered to 10 mg daily, and the patient's symptoms of ADHD were now better controlled.
